When I was in college, I took on 4 internships in 4 very different industries. These were excellent opportunities to help me understand the types of jobs and work environments that fit best with me.

Here at Westcor, we love to invest in the Title Industry by providing internships and helping young people understand the great promise of a career in Title Insurance. Interns often become full-time employees after graduation. They also offer a unique perspective and occasionally add value by “reverse-mentoring” their managers on new topics and trends.

During our internship program, we have several activities to help them develop professionally, give back to the community, meet new people, and get advice from prior interns.  Plus, they’re given an incredible chance to gain insight and industry knowledge from two of our inspiring leaders, Mary O’Donnell and Roy Lassiter.

Here are some of the exciting plans we have for our summer interns:

  • Professional Development seminars to help our interns create the best resumes and LinkedIn profiles for their future job searches
  • A “Title 101” Course taught by our experienced trainer who can give them insights on what this industry is based on
  • A “lunch and learn” with previous interns who now work for us in full-time positions to discuss their transition, and what set them apart
  • Participate in Volunteer Days at local food banks with their fellow interns, their managers, and other team members

This summer we’re super excited to take part in the FSU Shadow Days. The FSU Shadow Program connects students with one-day job shadowing opportunities that provide exposure to a wide variety of careers. This year, Westcor was invited to get involved and multiple departments were interested, including ours. We will have 1 student shadow each of us as a “Day in the Life of HR”.
